Lady Bugs - Jenn
One day I gave myself a multicolor manicure with back tips just because. I had seen some black tips and thought they looked smart. The next day I wanted to paint my mails again but didn't have the time for a complete change. That is when inspiration struck me. I added a black line, thickened the tip and added dots and eyes. Presto! Lady Bug nails. My girls loved them and ask me to do them every time I do my nails.

Pirate Tattoo Nails - Jenn
At the dollar store I picked up some temporary tattoos. I got pirates but you can use anything. I cut out enough skulls and crossbones to put one on each finger. I painted my nails a solid colour and let it dry completely. Once dry, I took a skull and placed it on my finger. Using a wet cloth I held it on the tattoo for 15-20 seconds. Any longer then that seemed to smudge it. After removing the cloth and doing all my nails I put on a top coat. I wish I could say I thought of this on my own but I am not that clever. Hello Kitty Nails - Jenn
Once I started doing interesting things to my nails my oldest daughter H wanted to join in on the fun! She is 4.5 years old so she is obsessed with Hello Kitty. We took a quick trip to the dollar store and bought her first nail kit. Here are the results:

My Very First Piece of Nail Art
Hey everyone! This is Jenn. I wanted to share with you the very first piece of nail art that I had ever done. Here's the back story:
I have only been painting my nails for a few months now and only recently discovered nail art. I was home on vacation and saw Katy Perry's Candy Nails and thought "I can do that. That looks easy." I had no idea how time consuming it would be. After a few failed attempts I finished up and I thought they looked great! And they lasted all of five minutes. I didn't use nail glue so they fell apart. But I did use real sprinkles!

Welcome to Not Your Ordinary Nails!
This blog is run by two busy moms with a mutual love of nail art. Expect to see posts from both of us and even our friends of designs we have tried and designs we have done ourselves.
Jenn is relatively new to the world of nail art. She finds it an easy way to relax and clear her head. It helps that both her girls enjoy getting their nails done too!
Nicole has been into nail art since she was in high school (but we won't tell you how long ago that was...) and recently found renewed love for it when she received a Konad stamping set for Christmas.
We are both really excited to share our passion for nails with you. If you have a design you'd like to share then let us know. Guest Bloggers are always welcome.
